When we join forces we are more, because when we work jointly, looking at what brings us together, our differences are minimized; we multiply, and results are optimized. For the AACCP, both the Argentine Polo Association( AAP) and the Argentine Rural Association( SRA) are two strategic Associations. Having got the brand conflict with the AAP out of the way, the participation of this Association in Argentine polo has increased considerably and has started to occupy an important space and role within the organization. Just to mention a few examples, the Breeders’ Tournament is played today at the insuperable AAP Alfredo Lalor grounds in Pilar; the judging for awards to horses and best-mounted player of the 2015 Argentine Open Championship was coordinated by the AACCP; the superb location of Stand at Palermo; the very good will as regards participating in the different AAP tournaments and working on issues related to polo ponies are just another example that indicates that the correct path is that of working together with the ruling polo entity. We are working jointly with the SRA to revoke the tax on horse exports, and thanks to its intervention it has now been abolished. We are currently working on a registration digitalization project to simplify its management, not only for uploading information but also for searches. It is not only with these institutions that we are working, but also with Remonta, where the traditional Course for Grooms took place in Campo de Mayo; the Ministry of Agriculture; we have given Courses for Grooms in Coronel Suárez, with the participation of breeders from the area, and hope to be able to repeat this experience in other parts of the country, so as to continue working on people’ s professional development.
We are re-defining the editorial content of the AACCP, and a part of this includes changing the date of the Year Book issue to the fall, since in this way we are able to include all the calendar-year activities, and do better honor to its definition of Year Book. This first fall edition shall include information from 2014 and 2015, but from now on it shall be the calendar-year information
The AACCP participation abroad as a source of promotion of Polo Argentino ponies continues to increase, adding Dubai, as well as Palm Beach; England; Spain and France. For the Cattle show we have a luxury set of jurors in Ignacio Novillo Astrada and Sebastián Merlos, two players who play at the highest level of competition, one being a former 10-goaler. And as arbitrator, one of the most distinguished tamers of all times, Carlos Polito Ulloa. Additionally, the Association has been present at the traditional exhibitions of Nuestros Caballos( Our Horses), in Río Cuarto; Mar del Plata; Santa Rosa; Tucumán and also at the Copa de la Bandera in Rosario; the Copa 25 de Mayo in Trenque Lauquen; the Copa Manuel Belgrano in Coronel Suárez. A special mention goes to those who organize these exhibitions and make them come true. The exhibitions are a great source of exchange and generation of knowledge; an opportunity to get together and share experiences and to show and evaluate what we are doing.
Our visits to distinguished breeders and overall inspections have proved very enriching, not only for those who organize them but also for those who attend. It is our intention to continue these in 2016 and organize them jointly with local representatives and inspectors, taking advantage of the activities related to polo in the area.
This year two great mares that have made history in the world of polo have retired: Dolfina Cuartetera and Dolfina Buenaventura. We shall no longer be seeing them on the polo fields, but for those of us who were lucky enough to have been able to watch them, we shall have the privilege of remembering them in the Palermo Open finals of 2006 and 2009, where Dolfina Cuartetera was awarded Best Polo Argentino Pony, and in the years 2009, 2010 and 2014 in which she won the Lady Susan Townley award, whereas Dolfina Buenaventura did so in 2011 and 2012. This is probably the time to make the project of a Hall of Fame for the most distinguished Polo Ponies come true.
