Trials of a Tiffin Master:
Advice to Travelling Tea Duellists.
The noble sport of Tea Duelling is suitable both for private practice and public spectacle. The spirit of the game, the dripping, steaming biscuit held in a firm hand, the rush to consume before the biscuit breaks… all the stuff of high drama reduced to the scale of a tea set.
However, when a competition is held for the general public, as with any live event, things do not always go to plan.
In ideal conditions, each round of a tea duel would last less than a minute. The biscuits dunked, would break quickly, dependent on the nerve of the duellist. This is not always the case. In Australia we tend to use either Nice or Scotch Finger biscuits.
