A report on the research and innovation
performance of Malaysian universities from the
Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education showed that
Monash University Malaysia is performing very well
in a number of research metrics. We were ranked
the highest in the country in:
> percentage of publications in Q1 journals at
47.8%
> percentage of highly cited papers at 1.5%
> percentage of Q1 papers in the area of green
technology at 78.2%
> percentage of papers published in the top 10%
journals at 27.6%.
Professor Chai Siang Piao from the School of
Engineering is one of 11 highly cited researchers in
the area of green technology. He also has the
highest percentage – 100% – of papers published
in Q1 journals.
International, Innovation
& Technology Exhibition
Our researchers claimed two gold, three silver and three bronze
medals at the annual International, Innovation & Technology
Exhibition, with all eight submissions recognised for their
innovative qualities.

Malaysia Research Star Award
Professor Chai Siang Piao and Dr Lee Learn Han were
recognised by the Ministry of Education as among Malaysia’s
most promising and influential researchers at the Malaysia
Research Star Award (MRSA) 2018. Professor Chai, who was
also an MRSA award winner in 2017, received the Frontier
Researcher Award by Clarivate Analytics, while Dr Lee Learn
Han received the High Impact Paper in Medical Sciences Award
by Elsevier.
