Annual Reports 2019 Annual Report | Page 2

FROM THE LEADERSHIP T he Sportsmen’s Alliance and its Foundation have protected hunting, fishing and trapping for more than four decades now. We’ve defended the sportsmen’s community from legal, legislative and ballot-box attacks that would have decimated hunting, public lands, wildlife management and conservation in the process. In 2019, we saw more legislative attacks than ever, and they took place in every region of the country – from the deep South to the far West, few states were spared. Luckily, we were able to stop most of these attacks before they were enacted – some before they even reached public comment. Those successes are due to you, our supporters, members and donors. It is you who helps apply political pressure when legislation threatens to undo 100 years of scientific wildlife management, it is you who supports our efforts through memberships and donations. Without this support, we wouldn’t be able to fight in federal and state court or at the ballot box when animal-rights organizations attempt to mislead the general public about hunting. As you’ll see in this report, with your backing, we … • Fight for scientific wildlife management, including predator management in state and federal court, so that ungulate herds remain healthy and stable • Rebuffed attempts to stop incentivized hunting of coyotes in multiple states; bills so broadly written that they would ban canine field trials and even youth squirrel hunts • Joined forces with our partners to stand strong for the Second Amendment BOARD OF DIRECTORS EXECUTIVE COMMITEE Charles Baldwin Fayetteville, Arkansas Paul Delaney Flagstaff, Arizona Retired geologist/geophysicist. Lifelong outdoors- man; member Masters of Foxhounds Association of America; devoted to mounted hunting and other field sports. Evan Heusinkveld Columbus, Ohio President and CEO of the Sportsmen’s Alliance and Foundation. Avid archery hunter, wingshooter, angler and conservationist. • Launched a new youth program to introduce high school kids to conservation-based education We did all this, and more, because of YOUR support. Thank you. We take our mission and your donations seriously, and always strive to be as efficient as possible. You’ll see that more than 80% of every dollar goes directly to our programming – because that’s where it’s most effective and will do the best to protect your passions for future generations. The people and organizations dedicated to ending your way of life, and the most successful model of conservation in history, are well funded. They spend hundreds of millions of dollars every year to wage political, legislative, social and media warfare. We will stand in their way and, with your help, we will repel that vocal minority that misrepresents hunting and wildlife management. Thank you, again, for your continued support and for supporting scientific wildlife management.
