WORKING NATIONWIDE Contesting competition bans keeping the canine sports Preventing Import Bans Protecting Predator Management WHERE WE WORKED: New Mexico, Oregon, Montana, Wisconsin, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Arizona and Nevada. A coordinated, multi-state attack on any contest involving wildlife, pushed by the Humane Society of the United States, was the theme of 2019. We were able to kill six of nine proposals, while Arizona approved restrictions, and New Mexico and Massachusetts passed outright bans. WHERE WE WORKED: Hawaii, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Oregon, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Tennessee, Montana, Oklahoma, Texas, Connecticut, Kansas, Ohio, Indiana and Washington. A popular target for anti-hunters, dog laws resonate with non-hunters and directly limit hunting, training, breeding and kenneling of dogs. WHERE WE WORKED: Massachusetts, Minnesota, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, Florida and federal bills. Ban the import of African game through a port of entry into the US or into a state, and you can effectively end hunting overseas for those citi- zens. The animal-rights movement has gone even further by attempting to ban even the possession of African game taxidermy. WHERE WE WORKED: Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, New Jersey, Wyoming, Idaho, Nebraska, Washington, Montana, Florida, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Connecticut and Maine. Wolves, coyotes, mountain lions, grizzly and black bears all make great headlines, and therefore targets by animal-rights activists who use legis- lation, the ballot box and court system to obstruct proper management.
