Emphasising Physical Fitness
Among the Judiciary’s wellness initiatives during the last
year has been an emphasis on physical fitness. In his
connection the small gym at the Hall of Justice in Port of
Spain, was re-equipped and re-opened under the
direction of a Gym Management Committee. The
Judiciary also procured the services of a fitness Consultant to provide professional Physical Fitness services to
the organisation. These services which are available to all
staff include personal physical fitness assessments, the
design of personal training programmess and nutritional
consultations as well as guidance for persons using the
Judiciary’s gym facilities. Aerobic classes have also been
initiated by the consultant and other off-site activities
such as hikes and biking are planned. In addition to
looking at the installation of gym equipment at existing
Court locations where it can be accommodated, the
Committee has also begun drawing on the services from
external gyms to be made available to staff throughout
the country at negotiated rates. Arrangements have been
made with gym establishments in Port of Spain, Arima,
San Fernando, and Chaguanas. The Committee is also
planning the Judiciary’s first ever Biggest Loser Competition to start in early 2014.
The Gym Committee comprises (from left): Mr. Christopher Hosein, Mrs. Vonetter Reid, Ms. Nesha Atwaroo,
Chairperson - Mrs. Lisa Haynes, Mr. Arnold Sealy, Ms. Elora Orr and Secretary - Ms. Kelly-Ann Greenidge.
