Resident Supervision
Mount Carmel creates a learning environment where residents
and faculty members perform patient care within their
respective roles. This is demonstrated with the appropriate
level of supervision for the residents. Supervision ranges from
direct supervision where the faculty is physically present, to
indirect supervision, where faculty are immediately available,
to oversight, where a post-hoc review is made of the care
provided by the resident with appropriate feedback.
Each Program Director oversees the progressive authority and
responsibility and supervisory roles in patient care relative to
each resident.
Resident Evaluation
Resident evaluations are completed per the ACGME
requirements under Formative and Summative Evaluations.
Faculty evaluates resident performance following each rotation.
This includes objective assessments of competence under
each of the six ACGME competencies: patient care, medical
knowledge, practice-based learning and improvement,
interpersonal and communication skills, pr
