CHANGING THE WORLD, ONE GIRL AT A TIME At Girl Scouts we believe in the power of girls. We believe that investing in girls can change the world. There is no limit to what a girl can do. From a Daisy learning the words of the Girl Scout Promise and Law to a Girl Scout Senior tackling a serious issue in her community for her Gold Award, the signs of leadership are evident. In Girl Scouts, girls learn to work cooperatively, advocate for others and take action in their communities. When girls sell cookies they practice essential life skills such as goal-setting, money management, people skills, decision-making and business ethics. When a troop of Girl Scouts progresses from planning and funding a two-night camping outing to organizing and paying for a two-week trip abroad, they’ve taken the reins on a future well-traveled and expanded their world view. If girls are mentored by women in careers including science, technology, engineering and math, they see that they can achieve that same success. Girl Scouts introduces girls of every age to STEM experiences relevant to everyday life. Whether they’re discovering how a car’s engine runs or building a robotic Lego, girls are hands-on now as they build their futures. A girl who sees the earth as her home will respect and care for the environment for future generations. Being outdoors has always been a part of Girl Scouts and girls continue to learn about wildlife, conservation and responsibility every time they camp, hike or plan a community service project that impacts the environment. Through Girl Scouting, girls see that they can and do make a difference in their world. They take action and make a lasting difference in their communities. Feeling their power, girls grow in confidence, inspire others, and set the stage for a lifetime of achievement -- thanks to you, we’re changing the world one girl at a time!
