Dear Friends :
Letter from the President
It is always gratifying to look back at the end of another year of Big Top events and count the many blessings of great concerts and programs and the generous support of our many participants and friends . Last year nearly 33,000 people attended an event at the Tent , and one million people listened to Tent Show Radio across the nation and around the world on the internet . Our stage hosted old favorites and new up-and-coming artists . Our Blue Canvas Orchestra presented new productions , and our free family series opened the tent flaps to everyone to experience a diverse array of music , culture and dance . Additionally , we continued some of our favorite activities like our Native American Community Connection events , our Big Top Idol vocal competition and our Bluegrass Day Camp for Youth .
All in all , Big Top touched a lot of lives this year . And there were many , many people who were an integral part of making it a wonderful 2017 . Every year , our incredible board members work tirelessly to guide this organization to success . I thank them for all of their work and their many contributions toward this organization . Additionally , my sincere thanks to a multitude of donors and sponsors who give their hard-earned dollars in support of Big Top operations and programs , which truly make it all possible . To the stalwart volunteer team that greets our patrons and makes sure they have an excellent experience , I extend my sincere appreciation ; you are our ambassadors , and we couldn ’ t operate without you ! Thanks to the office staff and the summer crew that put it all together . A big and hearty thank you goes out to our resident musicians , singers and actors : the Blue Canvas Orchestra . They truly put the magic in the Big Top .
As I say each year , I am very proud to be involved with Big Top Chautauqua . Life is busy and moves along quickly , but when I pause to take in the music and fellowship at the Big Top , I am always thankful that it exists , right here in our community . Big Top adds joy to our lives . Thank you for being a part of making it all happen . We are all richer for it – I look forward to seeing you this summer for more music and magic under the stars .
