Free Family Matinee Series
Big Top ’ s 2014 Free Family Matinee Series presented a variety of interactive and educational performance opportunities accessible to all . It is only with the generous support of our community that Big Top can offer workshops and performances for “ kids ” of all ages at the tent free of charge .

Bluegrass Camp for Kids
Ten students aged 8 -17 joined us last year for our first Bluegrass Camp for Kids ! Campers learned beginning through advanced guitar , bass , mandolin , fiddle , banjo , singing and songwriting , practicing one-on-one with instructors and in group jam sessions . Led by The Barefoot Movement , the camp culminated in a fantastic afternoon performance on the tent stage by the students and instructors .
Native American Community Connections
We were pleased to honor and present some of our region ’ s rich Native American culture heritage at the tent this year . Thank you to Apostle Islands Area Community Fund , an affiliate of the Duluth-Superior Area Community Foundation , Chequamegon Bay Arts Council , and Washburn Community Education Foundation , for their strong support of our cultural and free family programs .
Grant Support
Mission-based programming was supported in part by grants from : Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts , Xcel Energy , and The Boldt Company , celebrating their 125 th anniversary in 2014 . Operational grant support was provided by the MAHADH Fund of the HRK Foundation .
