Annual Report FY 2025 | Page 19

Total Operating Expenses were $ 17.7 million, including Personnel($ 11.4 million, up 12.8 % PY) and Non-Personnel($ 6.3 million, down 20.7 % PY) costs. The most significant components of Non- Personnel costs were Contracted Work($ 3.1 million), FOMAC Program, Development & Management expenses($ 1.1 million), and Materials & Supplies($ 1.1 million), with another $ 2.4 million under Personnel for Benefits & Taxes. Capital expenditures ended the year $ 196k higher than budget due to tracking deficiencies, addressed through new reporting and internal controls. The Cemetery incurred additional audit and legal expenses($ 122k) from staff turnover. A one-time event charge($ 141k) resulted from the Cemetery’ s hosting of over 400 of its colleagues from around the country during the American Public Gardens Association annual meeting held in Boston in June 2024( pictured above); Mount Auburn is a public garden and accredited Class III arboretum as well as an active cemetery and its staff presented at conference sessions and welcomed several hundred APGA guests to an evening reception at Mount Auburn highlighting the Cemetery landscape. Finally, the Cemetery’ s Vision Planning project moved closer toward completion in FY25, identifying core and aspirational projects and their potential sequencing to strengthen Mount Auburn’ s physical infrastructure; the strategic planning effort was $ 660k behind budget for the fiscal year, however, attributable to additional assessment and resource clarification.
