• The Transplant Clinical Research Group ’ s portfolio also includes 11 industry-funded studies focused on : – De novo immunosuppression and interventions at the time of transplant to mitigate delayed allograft function . – Utilizing novel agents to limit immune-mediated injury , including antibody-mediated injury and chronic antibody-mediated injury . 
 – HIV + to HIV + transplantation . – Testing certain novel biomarkers of kidney injury that could reduce the need for renal biopsy of transplanted kidneys . – A novel application of an agent in chronic antibody-mediated injury . – Whether the type of tacrolimus preparation affects the development of BK polyomavirus nephropathy .

• UAB ’ s Transplant Epidemiology & Analytics in Medicine ( T . E . A . M .), within the Department of Surgery , is heavily involved in NIH-funded research related to improving organ transplant outcomes , particularly with kidney transplantation . A few of those studies are listed below :
