Love the Great Salt Lake
The Great Salt Lake represents our state and our capital city. More than a symbol, it is a neighbor to those along the Wasatch Front. The lake is a crucial part of our ecosystem and directly impacts our environment, climate, air quality, and health. Most importantly, it is vital to Utah’ s present and future. We know the Great Salt Lake’ s influence on many aspects of our lives. We also know we, as Utahns, must be stewards of the lake, restore water levels, and help its fragile ecosystem thrive. This Earth Month, Mark Miller Subaru and its Loves the Earth partner, the O₂ Utah Foundation, gathered more than 50 community volunteers to give back to the lake and clean up trash littered along the shoreline. Together, we collected over 1,400 pounds of trash and learned more about the lake’ s impact on our air quality. Volunteers also learned how action-oriented solutions, presented by local scientists from Salt Lake Community College, can help the lake thrive. In addition to the tangible impact of cleaning the shoreline, the event allowed community members of all ages to visit the lake, see water levels first-hand, and better understand the need for action. For some, it was the first time they had ever visited! This grassroots event highlighted Mark Miller Subaru’ s commitment to climate action while simultaneously growing the O₂ Utah Foundation’ s community base and amplifying its mission to clean our state’ s air through visionary environmental policy. Our hope is that the example set by Mark Miller Subaru inspires local businesses and community members to take action and be responsible neighbors to the Great Salt Lake, preserving it for future generations.

Following the holiday season, Mark Miller Subaru embarked on a wrapping paper recycling initiative to address the environmental impact of holiday waste. Together, we collected 121.3 lbs of wrapping paper, offering a sustainable disposal option that diverted this waste from landfills. This initiative highlighted our commitment to environmental stewardship and encouraged our customers to rethink waste and recycling practices during the festive season. By providing a recycling solution for wrapping paper, we aimed to minimize our ecological footprint and promote a culture of sustainability within our community.
