 What We Do
 The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario ( CPSO ) regulates the practice of medicine in Ontario . Physicians are required to be members to practise medicine in Ontario . The role of the CPSO and its authority and powers are set out in the Regulated Health Professions Act ( RHPA ), the Health Professions Procedural Code under the RHPA , and the Medicine Act .
 REGISTRATION
 Physicians are required to be members of the CPSO to practise medicine in Ontario . The CPSO ’ s Registration department handles all inquiries regarding the registration process .
 QUALITY
 Our Quality Improvement and Assurance tools and teams support physicians in providing high quality patient care throughout their careers . Our approach to practice quality improvement is educational and collaborative , to benefit both patients and physicians .
 INVESTIGATIONS
 A central responsibility of the CPSO is to respond to concerns and to investigate complaints from members of the public about doctors in Ontario .
 GUIDING PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT
 The CPSO develops policies to provide guidance to physicians about legislative / regulatory requirements and to set expectations for the medical profession .
