Roles of the College
In serving the public interest, the College seeks to understand the risks
involved in the practice of veterinary medicine and collaborates with
partners to develop solutions which reduce the potential for harm to
animals and people.
Licensure
Competent and qualified individuals are
licensed to practise veterinary medicine in
Ontario. Practice and conduct issues are
investigated thoroughly and resolved fairly.
Quality Practice
Veterinarians participate in programs
that assure the provision of safe, quality
veterinary medicine. Resources are provided
to promote the ongoing improvement
of a veterinarian’s practice. Veterinary
facilities are inspected and accredited to
assure a safe, professional environment.
Standards and Policy
Standards of practice, relevant public policy
and the provision of practice guidance improve
the quality and safety of veterinary care.
