Monday Miles Community members gather to socialize and run 1, 2, or 3 miles around a designated course. Mom & Son Jammin’ Fun Over 250 sons and moms enjoy an evening of dancing, games, and ice cream at the Main Street Recreation Center. Lake Ellyn Cardboard Regatta 25th year of boats made almost exclusively out of cardboard setting out upon Lake Ellyn, each carrying intrepid sailors, seemingly defying the laws of physics as they glide across the lake. Afternoon Festivities 18th year of family-friendly fun after the Fourth of July parade with penny carnival games, rides, food and live music. Moonlight Madness Mini Golf A nighttime adventure at Holes & Knolls Mini Golf Course where only the ball and cup are lit! Platform Tennis Open House Platform tennis pros provide free instruction in the sport for kids and adults. Glow in the Park Lantern Walk Attendees raise funds for Lurie Children’s while enjoying family activities followed by an illuminated lantern parade around Lake Ellyn. Pupcorn & a Movie A movie date night for pups and their owners. Pumpkin Flotilla Fest Fall fun for the whole family including a carved pumpkin flotilla on Lake Ellyn at dusk. Turkey Trot 30 years of burning off calories before sitting down to Thanksgiving dinner. Over 450 runners participated this year, collecting 1,162lbs of food donations for the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry! TGIF at Sunset Pool Friday night fun at the pool ranging from the annual Teen Splash Bash to Patriotic Popsicle Night to a Belly Flop Contest. The District also assists many groups in the community with their events: Alliance of Downtown Glen Ellyn, Glenbard West Boosters, District 41 PTA(s), Backyard BBQ, WDSRA, Bridge Community, Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce, Glen Ellyn Historical Society, Glen Ellyn Public Library, Kiwanis of Central DuPage, Glen Ellyn Kiwanis, Glen Ellyn Lions Club, Glenbard South Post Prom, Glen Ellyn Fourth of July Committee, Glenbard West Post Prom, Glenbard District 87 advanced placement testing & college placement testing, Jack’s Fund, Rotary Club of Glen Ellyn, Glen Ellyn Junior Women’s Club, Glen Ellyn League of Women Voters, People’s Resource Center, Teen Connection, Shop with a Cop, Tour of Lake Ellyn Bike Race, and more! Supporting Local Businesses The Park District reinvests back into the community by supporting local businesses and vendors whenever possible. Activities at the Park District, such as special events and tournaments, attract crowds from within and around the community. Increasing the number of visitors to Glen Ellyn helps to build and stimulate the local economy.
