Molly was born with several disabilities that have left her wheelchair bound with limited mobility. She has limited speech and a seizure disorder that began plaguing her during infancy. Molly was raised by a single mother who kept her at home and used Home of the Innocents’ Kosair Charities Pediatric Convalescent Center( KCPCC) for respite services.
When Molly was 13, she spent two weeks at the KCPCC. Her teacher would visit to make sure Molly was keeping up with lessons. Knowing that Molly’ s mother was often worried about whether Molly enjoyed her stays at the Home, she sent her mother photographs of Molly she’ d taken with her phone. The pictures showed Molly laughing and interacting with other kids.
Molly became a full time resident at the Home’ s Kosair Charities Pediatric Convalescent Center. She is well cared for and loved by staff. Her mother visits her daughter as often as she likes and even volunteers. They have been able to enjoy being mother and daughter again. The stress of having to take care of Molly alone no longer plagues Molly’ s mother and she knows that Molly’ s care is in the best of hands.
