Heather Walker grew up in “ the system .” She was a foster kid . She had some good homes and some not so good homes . She and her husband , Wayne , wanted to be sure they could provide a good home to as many kids in the system as possible . To that end , the Walkers have adopted six kids through Home of the Innocents ’ Therapeutic Loving foster Care and Adoption ( TLC ) program .
The Walkers feel that TLC has provided them with good connections , a great support system and very good friends . As rewarding as fostering and adoption are , they warn that it is not for the faint of heart .
“ You can spend a lot of time in limbo . We have an amazing attachment to a child but we could still lose them ,” Heather explained about one of the hardest things about fostering . Both Walkers definitely agree the good outweighs the bad immensely .
Through all the tears , the tantrums and the placements that didn ’ t work , the Walkers have persevered and become one big family . Heather and Wayne Walker brought childhood back to six very special kids , and created one very special family .
