Fostering a Community of Practice
Elevated student voices in the local, regional and
national spaces
Carlos Rosario School immigrant students shared their perspectives
before adult educators and public policy professionals at regional
education conferences, a national convening of the DC Office of the
State Superintendent of Education, and the annual Barbara Bush
Foundation literacy celebration.
Unlocking doors through arts integration
Arts Integration staff and ESL teachers provided workshops
for the gallery educators at the Smithsonian National Portrait
Gallery and the Phillips Collection in an effort to make
museums more engaging to immigrant communities and to
ensure content and tours are more accessible to English
language learners

The real success of an organization like Carlos Rosario
is the students. As a new student, I wasn’t expecting to
represent the school at such an important conference like
MAACCE [Maryland Association for Adult, Community and
Continuing Education]. I felt like I was able to share my
experiences with other people interested in helping the
adult immigrant community.
Leading the Adult Charter
School Conversation
Hosted the first-ever national adult
education charter school forum in
partnership with the Office of Career,
Technical, and Adult Education (OCTAE)
Became a national COABE strand
partner providing insights on the
Charter School conference strand
