A hallmark year for drama, music and visual art

At Crofton House the creative arts bring us together as a community, enrich our lives and give our girls wonderful opportunities to express themselves. Each year, there are always many special moments. A few from 2015 – 2016 are:
• On the stage, it was a momentous year for both the Junior and Senior Schools. Taking to the stage, 130 girls participated in the Junior School’ s production of Disney’ s The Lion King Junior, while 25 Senior School actors brought Bryony Lavery’ s Treasure Island to life. Both productions, which involved partnering with talented boys and young men from St. George’ s School, delighted their audiences and demonstrated the talent that lives at Crofton House.
• In the realm of music, Crofton House proudly welcomed the broader community of Metro Vancouver for the Voices of Girls and Women Spring Choral Concert, a benefit fundraiser for the Downtown Eastside Women’ s Centre. With talented singers and moving performances, it was a musical celebration that will be fondly remembered by participants and music-lovers alike.
• On the visual art front, CHS was honoured to be given the opportunity to work with the Vancouver Biennale BIG IDEAS in-School program. Exploring how art can influence social change, students from grades 4, 7, 11 and 12 worked together with art teachers, professional artist Adrian Walker, representatives from the Vancouver Biennale organization and Aboriginal herbalist T’ uy’ tanat-Cease Wyss to construct an on-campus installation in The Woods.
