Annual Report 2014AnnualReport

T OWN OF J UPITER 2014 ANNUAL REPORT AND 2015 PREVIEW Balancing Small Town Feel and Progress 2015 has arrived, and with it evidence of progress and recovery in our local, regional and state economy. We look forward to the coming year with hope and a sense of optimism in Jupiter, a place we all love and feel lucky to call “home”. 2014 brought us many challenges of balance. Balance between economic progress and community livability, between growth and “small-town feel,” and between neighborhoods and commerce. We continue to find ourselves weighing decisions with impacts on many sides – decisions that we do not take lightly and strive to consider thoughtfully. VISION: We saw the emergence of Harbourside Place as a new downtown area for Jupiter. Bordered by a public amphitheater and a section of the Riverwalk, the hope is that this entertainment district will offer an option for residents and visitors to enjoy the Jupiter waterfront. The historic Inlet Village area continues to redevelop while striving to maintain its unique fishing village quaintness. In residential areas we are seeing revitalization in our older neighborhoods, watching Abacoa neighborhoods evolve, and anticipating new growth from new neighborhoods in-progress and proposed in the western part of our Town. Jupiter is a distinctive coastal community committed to preserving its unique character and history and vibrant, small-town feel. As we look to 2015, we know we will continue to face the challenges of balancing development, redevelopment and “build-out” with those of livability and economic health. We value resident and business input as we weigh the difficult decisions we will face in considering all of the benefits and impacts of new opportunities. We look forward to working together toward the vision of always being “uniquely Jupiter.” • Mayor Karen Golonka • Vice Mayor Ilan Kaufer • Councilor Wendy Harrison • Councilor Jim Kuretski • Councilor Todd Wodraska Keep in Touch: Being accessible to residents’ needs and providing excellent customer service is a critical aspect of Jupiter’s mission.
