Staff Reference Groups
As Interrelate values the contribution and expertise of our staff, a number of Staff Reference Groups
have been established to improve operations and maintain quality service delivery.
Environmental Committee
In 2014-15, the Environmental Committee was established with staff representatives from each main
office and region. The Environmental Committee meets on a monthly basis via teleconference and aims
to minimise our environmental footprint by working with staff and stakeholders to ensure that we have
a sustainable future. Refer to the Corporate Social Responsibility section for 2014-15 outcomes.
Kutanya
Kutanya, which means “all” or “together” in the Barkindji language, is an Aboriginal and Torres
Strait Islander reference group. Kutanya consists of the CEO, Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal staff,
reflecting that at the very heart of this reference group is the hope of reconciliation. Kutanya aims to
support the delivery of quality services to Indigenous communities while also providing support to
our Indigenous staff. Kutanya proudly works to strengthen and advance reconciliation both within
Interrelate and the broader community.
In 2014-15, the group introduced the Kutanya badge, given to all new employees to represent our
commitment to reconciliation, and developed the Kutanya video, which highlights some of the
great work being undertaken in Indigenous communities in our regions. They also undertook the
important work of developing the Reconciliation Action Plan for 2015-17 and consulted on the
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Employment Strategy, both due to be launched next year. In
addition, they provided advice to the Board on the recruitment of an Indigenous Director to the
Board and consulted on regional specific programs or projects.
