Going for the Gold ...
The Girl Scout Gold Award represents the highest achievement in Girl Scouting.
Open to girls in grades 9-12, this prestigious award challenges girls to change the
world. To earn the award, girls develop community-based projects to address the
root causes of issues important to them. Through a take-action approach, Gold
Award candidates create sustainable change and demonstrate leadership through
educating and guiding others. For many, the leadership and organizational skills, as
well as the sense of community and commitment that comes from “going for the
gold,” set the foundation for a lifetime of active citizenship.
The following list includes girls who earned their awards between April 1, 2012 and
March 30, 2013. Congratulations to these extraordinary leaders for their work and
dedication to their communities. Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania is a consistent
national leader in the number of Gold Awards earned.
