School Year and Hours of Operation
The school year began on August 27, 2007, and ended on June 12, 2008. There were two instructional
semesters of approximately 19 weeks each. According to the District of Columbia School Reform
Act, adult students who receive 12 hours of instruction per week are considered to be full-time. Given
this criterion, students enrolled in the evening session met the full-time requirement. Because of their
parenting and work demands, the school develops its class schedules to accommodate students’
responsibilities. Please see Chart 3 for the schedule of classes.
