THE PHALEN CULTURAL CENTER

PLA was pleased to open the Phalen Cultural Center for its inaugural year. Through the generous support of the Lilly Endowment, this newly and fully renovated facility is located on the Far Eastside of Indianapolis with state-of-the-art equipment and technology and seats 500 audience members.

The Center has a fully equipped stage with a lighting and sound booth equipped to accommodate various types of visual and performance based artistic expression. The Phalen Cultural Center exists to educate, engage, inspire, and empower scholars, families, organizational partners, and the community on the Far Eastside and at large.

We embrace the performing arts and other mediums as a compelling form of communication and a connector that bridges the gap between diverse cultures; expressing the issues of today while giving us a deeper understanding of the past and a hope for the future.

Programs at The Phalen Center will be interactive, dynamic, and connected to the culture of the Far Eastside and other artistic innovations from throughout the area. In its first season, the Center hosted the “Thankful for the Laughter” Comedy Show, The Brave, and Fences. PLA was also able to host their first graduating class from the James AND Rosemary Phalen Leadership Academy.
