A n n ua l Report 2021 Y ear in Review
Message from the President
2021 was a busy and exciting year , even with the ongoing pandemic . We had the inaugural year for our new grant program , which was so successful the Province of Manitoba provided an additional $ 2.5 million dollars in top-up funding to help ensure more projects were delivered . Trails Manitoba is very grateful to the Province for their ongoing support .
Manitoba has so many wonderful and beautiful trails to experience and many of those are thanks to countless volunteers and local trail groups who are out there building , maintaining , and grooming them . Thank you to all the volunteers and trail groups for your passion and dedication . Special thanks to the Trails Manitoba staff and Board as well . We are so lucky to have you all .
With the recent Provincial funding , the success of our grant program , and the strength of our volunteers , the future of Trails Manitoba looks very bright .

Message from the Executive Director
Adaptability . Resilience .
2021 can be summed up in two words : adaptability and resilience . This past year , we not only experienced a continuation of the COVID pandemic and health related protocols , but faced severe drought conditions and a very active wild-fire season to boot . Back country trail closures , delays in obtaining trail permits , and scarcity in materials also became common story lines , leading way to additional challenges faced by the Trails Community .
Yet even with these challenges , we collectively found a way to adapt and push forward . Recreational trails ( when open ) have continued to be a haven for people , a place to reconnect and recreate .
If these past two years have taught us anything , it ’ s that the desire to be outdoors , the desire to be active , and the desire to have readily accessible recreational trails is crucial for our personal and community health and well-being .
