ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2012 VOL10 | Page 7

Education in the West, regardless of discipline is an applied science. Dr. Mungoma was pushing for the much needed practical skills and not just the ability to memorize and reproduce knowledge. Passing the Seedling - from NAMCA to the Guest of Honor Youth - Represented at the NAMCA AGM The youth seminar followed and was led by our own Vice President NAMCA Andrew Mungoma. It was good to see the range of participants who included former Mayor Mrs. Wesonga, Members of Parliament, District Council leaders, Clergy and Public servants. Speaking from the Diaspora was Dr. Florence Wako-Studstill on the Educational resource Center and Edward Wanda on the background to NAMCA formation and now the need for a renewed vision for Bamasaba. The gathering was also entertained by local artists, served snacks and meals. Planting the ERC Tree The Kadodi Procession - With Hon. Dr. Stephen Mallinga (RIP) [In this picture, Hon. Left is Bob Musikori, President of NAMCA Saturday program started with the Kadodi drum procession to the ERC tree planting by the guest of honor. H.E the President of Uganda the invited guest of honor was represented by the Minister Disaster Preparedness Hon. Dr. Malinga who throughout the day revealed intimate knowledge of Mbale and the Lumasaba language. The tree planting kadodi procession was followed by the conference activities, starting with prayers, national Anthem and the Lumasaba Anthem which proved a challenge to sing. There may be need to shorten and train people about it. The President, NAMCA gave his speech and was followed by the Umukuka speech from his seated position. I was to learn that Umukuka does not stand when addressing his subjects. Present was Hon. James Mutende, MInister of State for Trade and Industry who accompanied the Guest of Honor. He is essentially a Mumasaba and the President could not have chosen a better person to represent him. Dr. Malinga had a good command of Lumasaba idioms and sayings to the delight of the people. 4
