berserk
Manga Plus
By Abhimanyu Shekhar
Art: 9/10
The art is in an evolving art-style. Action sequences are well drawn and are easy to follow. Miura has really
done a great job in the art. Large demonic creatures cut in pieces by the mighty blows of Guts’ sword, which is
almost twice his size.
A long-running manga primarily focused on war and deaths looks ugly, and Berserk is no exception. When a demon or human
is cut in half, probably on its/his/her unlucky day, you’ll see the upper half of the body in air, with pieces of intestines sticking out.
Yuck, right? Complicated drawings and a thick atmosphere looms everywhere throughout the manga. The character design is also
great, or at least, solid, but then see when it all was drawn, like in 1990 or something! Today, we don’t come across such art-styles
that much anymore. So according to back then, the art-style is more than just perfect.
