Road to NinJa
Naruto the Movie
By Abhimanyu Shekhar
Details
Naruto the Movie - Road to Ninja is the sixth film
of Naruto Shipuuden (ninth overall Naruto film)
released in late July of 2012.
Set in an alternate timeline, where Naruto’s parents
are alive (on the cost of Sakura’s parents), all the characters
have the opposite personalities like Hinata and Sasuke are
offensive and playboy-type respectively. This 110-minute
film is the highest earning Naruto film. For the year 2012,
the movie made ¥ 1.48 billion and ranked 29th among
Japanese movies in Box office including live action
movies. It is the sequel to Naruto Shipuuden: Blood Prison.
Except for France, this film has only been released in Asian
countries: Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia,
South Korea, Philippines, and Thailand.
The story is, as all Naruto stories are, by Masashi
Kishimoto, so the expectations were
high. It had to be more than just
interesting. The story is interesting
enough, as we get to see a quite twisted
world: Sakura’s parents have defended
Konoha from the Nine-Tailed demon
fox while Minato Namikaze and
Kushina Uzumaki are alive.
A Sequel Potential
In the story, Tobi also erases
Naruto’s memories by sharingan
but it’s later restored by the Red
Moon scroll. At last, Naruto defeats
Tobi and eventually stops him from
achieving his goal. The goal wasn’t
specified but this Genjutsu was
merely an experiment for a
greater aim. Naruto leaves that
world after bidding farewell
to his parents. In all, this film
comprises of the potential to
create a significant sequel
concerning the “Greater
Aim.”
