The Quay brothers took more of a step back with their technique in the sense that they took everyday house hold object, such as screws, and made them move. This was different to Aardman because they made their models the way they wanted them to look and this technique is easier to use because they could move them any way they want. But the Quay brothers couldn’t change the shape of the house hold object without creating a replica of it out of something that was easier to mould. They have won 16 awards and have been nominated for 11. They have won awards for British Animation Award in 2002 and where nominated for a BAFTA award in 1992 for best animated film. This Is one of the Quay brother’s creations called impressions. In this clip it shows you the screws and the different house hold objects they have used. Animation is the method of creating an illusion of movement and shape via the use of a continual display of slightly changing images. With the slight change in each image, the viewer is given the impression of action, where none exists. Another way of creating a piece of animation is to use a “Stop Motion” where tiny changes can be made to 3D models, and a static camera takes a single shot, again, leading to a sequence of images that shows the model as moving. Animation is everywhere. Sometimes advertising uses animation to make their product stand out but usually only big companies would do this because most companies can’t afford it. For example, coca cola a lot of their adverts are animated. Animation is also used in music videos to make it them more interesting and this is a better way of getting the message of the song across. One of the most famous music videos that used animation was called Take On Me by Aha which is about two people who fall in love but then the guy has to leave and promises he will be back but then when he does come back she has already moved on. Using animation in this shows how he really loved her by taking her into their own world and by putting them in black and white symbolises love. All the computer games are animated but there are many different ways to animate to give it a certain feel for a specific genre. For example, FEAR 3 is created to a unique style. They used tough lighting to make it feel uncomfortable. Lighting is very important in horror genre because it portrays the mood, usually they make the game dark to make it scary and give it a more ‘jumpy’ feel. Even mobile phones incorporate animation in their devise. For example, on windows phone there is an Xbox live append when it is held to the home page the person’s avatar peeks at the side of the icon. Animation is
