THE WHITE TIGER
These animals are incredibly rare, as their coloration is dependent on a defective, recessive gene that is passed on from their parents. They have blue eyes, a pink nose and white skin with brown stripes. Among their abilities, we can find that white tigers are good swimmers, but they do not climb very well. The first white tiger was captured in the Rewa’s jungles in 1951.
When they are together, they smell each other and they rub with the other ones. Their pregnancy lasts about 16 weeks and the babies weight about 1 to 3 kg each. When the babies are born, they cannot see. They open their eyes in the 14th day. They are born white and they stay in the cave for 8 weeks. The mother looks after the babies and she gets food and protects them. When males are 5 years old or more and females are about 3 years old, they begin to reproduce. Normally , they reproduction process occurs in November and April. It happens for about 104 and 106 days. Males can live for 10 and 12 years and females for 16 years.
They prefer to hunt by themselves during the night. Unfortunately, there are only 210 white tigers in the world, as they are considered endangered species. People hunt these animals because they want to sell the skin of the tigers.
