father and son arrived only two weeks later at the lake than planned due to circumstances beyond Duncan ' s control . They already lost two weeks of top angling time .
In the first two days , they lost alot of fish because of the end-tackle that broke repeatedly . Usually Martin makes the end-tackle and thoroughly tests it before his departure for a session . But it was a question of landing , picking up the fishing equipment from the store and drive straight to the dam . They started fishing with hooklinks of a known brand that kept breaking . The flyline came loose where is inserted into the core because his son used Superglue , instead of rubber glue . They re-built all the end-tackle from scratch with the tried and tested materials and system that Martin developed and perfected over the years . They never lost a fish again .
The dam is in a forestry area and they began to cut the trees nearest the target fishing bank . Those trees fell with a thud that sounds like an old 303 rifle bang . Martin knew the fish will flee from that area . They were forced to seek new target areas , and hoped the fish do not completely move away from the area where they were fishing . Eventually they identified new target areas 150m to 200m in front of their camp . They had to be very quiet and not move around much in the camp . It worked and they got into the fish the following morning .
