The competition is based on a specie draw and is open to all boat , bank and kayak anglers and is limited to the estuary only . We have identified 10 common species caught in the Sundays River and the biggest fish of each specie will go into a draw for the main prize . So even if you caught the biggest fish , a smaller fish of a different specie could win the event . This gives each participant a fair chance to win . The main prize will consist of R10 000 cash , 2nd prize R5 000 cash , 3rd prize R3 000 cash , 4th prize R1 500 cash and 5th prize R500 cash , plus each one will receive some additional prizes . Species to target will be kob , spotted grunter , white Steenbras , leervis , elf , river gurnard , diamond ray , sand shark , river bream and skipjack .

Thanks to all our loyal sponsors that has been with us each year and ensuring we can make this event possible . We have grown from a mere 23 sponsors to over 80 sponsors for our upcoming event . Our event prize value has also grown from R18 000 to almost R200 000 worth of prizes for our February 2017 competition . These prizes includes the goody bags , cash , vouchers , prizes , etc .
Friday the 10th of February will be the opening function together with registration and this will take place at the Sundays River Angling Club .
We have added an additional category this year whereby a Rapala ambassador will tag a fish a couple of days before the event . A R3 000 cash prize will be up for grabs if this tagged fish is caught .
This year each angler will measure & release their own fish . Each angler will receive a special tag , measuring tape and a weigh sheet . The tag will be place on the fish and a photo has to be taken showing the whole fish , the tag and the
