We need to look at this angling "law" again and
question ourselves do we really do the right thing?
I
am sure that the specimen anglers by
religion will support this idea 100% ,so
often in smaller lakes we experience fish
species dying in there hundreds especially in
dams where there is no natural flow of water ,
about a year ago we had hundreds of fish dead
in Cathcart dam in the free state , the
uninformed critics that is usually "Mr Know It
All " will say it is pollution instead it is the
shortage of oxygen and this occurs in lakes
where there is over population of fish species
in the water column , especially in the dry
season when with no rain and the lesser water
in the dam the fish will suffocate of too little
oxygen , remember a few years ago when
Hartebeespoort dam was 33% full, thousands
of fish died of the simple fact that there was to
many fish in a small space of water .

members to supply a food source to the
community and this is where the war starts
between anglers and netters as the netter
takes what is in the net and the monster Carp
hunter release what he hunts.
Most of our dams transformed to the catch
and release practice but not all is protected
from illegal netters, both parties believe
strongly that they are doing the right thing ,
then there is the hook and cook brigade, they
