What’s On Flag-Raising Ceremony The Australia Philippines Services League (APSL) will hold its traditional flag raising rites marking Philippine Independence Day on June 13 at the Village Green (Bowman Hall grounds) on Campbell Street, Blacktown. Admission is free and open to the public. Supported by Blacktown City Council since 2005, the event comprises the flag ceremony, entertainment from various cultural groups and general networking among Filipinos and their friends from other communities. Architectural historian, Dr Zenaida Sicat-Edwards, will be guest speaker at the flag raising rites. Event starts at 11am. In the evening, the APSL will host a dinner dance at the newly-refurbished Rooty Hill RSL, Sherbrooke Street, Rooty Hill. Tickets to the event are available from APSL officers and members. 4 JUNE 2015 Filipino display at Parramatta Library open until June 14 A Filipino-motif display is open at the Parramatta Library until June 14 as part of the city’s support to the Independence Day celebration. The display was opened May 29. This is the 15th year that the Parramatta Council Library has put on show the Filipino-motif display in time for the month’s celebration. The Philippine Department of Tourism Sydney is a strong supporter of the project, providing posters and brochures. Parramatta is a sister city of Cebu. In past years, Sydney was surrounded by Filipino-motif displays at twelve libraries with the help of the Philippine Department of Tourism Sydney, the Philippine Department of Trade and Investment Sydney and community groups and various city councils. Gosford City Council is hosting a special Philippine Independence Day flag raising to be held at the Forecourt of h the Gosford City Council (49 Mann St., Gosford). The programme will start at 10am. 18 The Parramatta City C Council and Philippine Consulate in Sydney in cooperation with BanagBanag Inc. wlll hold a Flag Raising Ceremony at the Parramatta Town Hall, Centenary Hall, Parramatta. Event starts at 10am. 20 21 Senior citizens Independence Day programme at the Marayong Community Centre organised by the Sydney Australian Filipino Seniors Inc (SAFSI). Event starts at 10am.
