Philippine companies join CeBIT 2014
TWELVE Philippine ICT and BPM-related companies joined to put up the Philippine
pavilion at the CeBIT 2014 expo held in Sydney last month.
THE Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Sydney helped organise Philippine participation via
a 36 square metre pavilion.
CeBIT is Australia’s annual
largest business technology and
innovation exhibit. The Philippine pavilion showcased the
country’s comprehensive services and capabilities in areas such as
IT consulting, software develop-
ment, customer relationship management, back office support, creative processes, healthcare information management, knowledge
process outsourcing, telecommunications, HR solutions, and offshore hosting services, among
others.
The Philippine ICT/BPM delegation is led by the Information
Technology and Business Process
Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) and supported by the Philippine government through the
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Department of Science and Technology-Information and Communications Technology Office (DOST-ICT Office), and the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA). The 12 companies participating are ADEC
Group, EstanSAAS Development
Inc., Exist Global, Global Process
Manager Inc., Globe Telecom,
KMC Solutions, Pointwest Technologies, Salmat Services Inc., SPi
Global, StraightArrow Corporation, Sutherland Global Services, and TeleDevelopment Services Inc.
“We aim to further increase
our presence in Australia, one of
our growing markets, and CeBIT
provides us a platform to present our strong value proposition
to Australian firms that are looking into outsourcing or offshoring to increase their competitiveness,” said IBPAP president and
CEO Jose Mari Mercado. “Our
high level of compatibility with
the Australian market makes us a
good complement as an outsourc-
ing partner,” adds Mercado.
Early this year, Metro Manila
has edged out Mumbai, India to
take the second spot in the Top
100 Outsourcing Destinations for
2014 released by the investment
advisory firm Tholons, while six
other Philippine cities also make it
to the list, which is acknowledged
as the de facto ranking for outsourcing cities worldwide.
Year 11 students check under the hood
OVER 30 Year 11 students from Terra Sancta College took part in a Car Maintenance
Workshop last month as part of a three week
Learning Enrichment Program about becoming road ready.
Eleni Mitakos from Galmatic, an organisation dedicated to driving and car maintenance
education, shared knowledge and experience
about the automotive world with the students.
The workshop focused on risk management, changing tyres, checking the oil and
learning to be proactive in order to be reactive while driving. The students learnt necessary routine checks and risk assessment protocols before and during driving in order to
be better prepared for any kind of situation
on the road.
