Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle will
visit Australia early next month for a series of speaking
engagements in Sydney and Melbourne.

CALLED the ‘Smiling Cardinal’, the
charismatic Filipino Catholic leader will
be in the Archdiocese of Sydney, the Diocese of Parramatta and Melbourne from
August 1 to August 5.
The public can listen to and meet Cardinal Tagle in some of his speaking engagements. In Sydney, the Cardinal will
speak on the topic ‘Christian Families are
called to Holiness’ and will also celebrate
the Holy Eucharist at the St. Mary’s Cathedral.
Cardinal Tagle was recently appointed by Pope Francis as one of three presidents-delegates of the Extraordinary
Synod of Bishops who will discuss pastoral challenges and issues related to families. The Synod takes place in the Vatican in October.
At 56, he is the fourth youngest cardinal in the world. He was ordained priest
in Imus, Cavite, Philippines and after 19
years was appointed and ordained Bishop of the same diocese. In 2011, he was
appointed and installed Archbishop of
Manila and elevated to Cardinal in 2012.
