History is replete with leaders’ honourable return to power in time of country’s great needs. Even General McArthur’s famous “I shall return” evokes hope and vindication to rectify the country’s trampled honour. Howard, Deakin, Fisher and Menzies in Australia and Churchill and Wilson in the United Kingdom, were summoned to save the country from impending disasters. They all became great leaders. There is nothing honourable in Kevin Rudd’s second ponti?cate. Remember his midnight kni?ng came about because he presided over a dysfunctional government and he was loathed by the majority in the Labor caucus. Many Australians genuinely felt sorry for the way he was disposed of which explains why there seems now a collective amnesia who Kevin really is. It would not be long before people will remember how Kevin presided over disasters after disasters, continued by Julia, that brought Labor’s desperation to call back Kevin. But it is not only about what he did, but what he is doing now mirrors the old Kevin. He plays people for fools with the mirages of what to do with carbon tax, the mining tax, boarder protection and asylum seekers, the budget and education. As soon as these policies on the run sink in and people understand they will not work ATTY. JESS DIAZ JESS’ COMMENTARIES and Labor cannot be trusted, Kevin and his turnaround team can expect an electoral wipeout. The Labor brand, both federal and state, is tarnished and cannot be trusted. Kevin’s return humiliated the entire Labor machine and the unions. Can we honestly believe that Gillard, Swan, Crean, Conroy and others who refused to serve under Kevin will remain silent? People’s lives did not improve under federal Labor, electricity bills continue to soar, jobs are lost, small businesses fail, manufacturing stagnate and big projects are puton hold. There is no con?dence that Labor can pay Australia’s debts, but an expectation that debts will continue to soar, budget will be in perennial de?cits and the boats will continue to come (lives will be lost). Can one ever forget how NSW Labor presided over corruptions unfolded in the ICAC investigations? In the coming weeks, the results of these enquiries will become public and will stare Labor once again. They may try to cover these up in the guise of expulsions and party reforms, but people cannot trust the Labor brand until they see these reforms in place and in practice, but we may have to wait forever and will of our way to throw him a party, and spend a lot of time with him.
