cover story YOU JUST CAN'T STOP THE MUSIC WITH JINKY TRIJO MARSH PINT-SIZE PACKET OF PANACHE & PASSION By VIOLI CALVERT SHE”S such as a petite and gentle lady whom one wouldn’t normally expect Jinky to marshal the energy and enthusiasm to excel as an actress, singer, author, radio broadcaster, wife, mother, and still find time to pursue her passion for dental health. Jinky Trijo Marsh, of Thornleigh, in Sydney's upper north shore, may be best remembered for her lead role of ‘Kim’ in Rockdale Musical Society’s stage production of Miss Saigon. Now aged 44 years of age with husband Stephen and two sons, Cameron, 7, and Timothy, 9 months Jinky continues to show no sign of slowing down. She released an audio CD, ‘Inspiring The Filipino Child’, which features Filipino legend, fable, folktale, proverb and tradition with emphases on moral values. The CD involved children who are also 04 OCTOBER 2018 | AK NewsMagazine, Vol 9 No 1 junior contributors of community radio program Radio Tagumpay, where Jinky is a presenter and co-producer. "This audio CD was inspired by my own children and husband,” she said. “This was designed for all children who were born or grew up outside the Philippines who are not familiar with the Filipino language and culture. It also encourages other non-Filipino speaking nationals everywhere to learn and appreciate Filipino culture.” Jinky has also launched Cultural/ Educational Colouring Pads/ Books Series2 (Philippines), and Cultural/ Educational BookMarks (Philippines). Simultaneously, she has been at rehearsals for the stage production Cabesang Tales, a mini-musical adapted from the book of Dr Jose P. Rizal, ‘El Filibusterismo. Jinky plays the role of wife of Cabesang Tales. She is also one of three narrators, a soloist in one song number, and part of Calamba folk. www.kalatas.com.au
