Futsal sa Fiesta turns to our Youth at Fiesta Kultura

The MoneyGram Azkalroos compete in Futsal sa Fiesta , a 5-a-side football tournament with the Aussie- Asian community teams of Afghanistan and Japan at the Filipino Fiesta Kultura on October 3 .
This year ’ s tournament will feature all youth teams with players from all teams being aged 16 under ( 13 to 16 ). The MoneyGram Azkalroos have selected several talented 13 and 14 year olds in their squad .
The Azkalroos see Futsal Sa Fiesta as an opportunity for all Aussie Asians youth players to display their talent . Futsal sa Fiesta and Fiesta Kultura will again take place at Fairfield Show Grounds .
The tournament is played on grass in the centre of the Trotting track on the right hand side of the Showgrounds . ( There will be signs to indicate the location ). Tournament kicks off at 9am . Games will consist of two halves of 20 minutes with a half time break of 5 minutes . The format will consist of three teams : Fiji ( Fijian Australia Association ); Japan ( Goshu Football ) and the Philippines ( Azkalroos ). Each team will play each other once .
The top two teams will play off in the
Grand Final . All games will have Extra Time of 10 minute halves to ensure a result is achieved .
There will be a half hour break for lunch from 12.00pm to 12.30pm .
The Grand Final will kick off at 2pm with the presentation of awards at 3:30pm .
The awards , sponsored by MoneyGram , will provide Gift Vouchers for MVP ; Golden Boot and Best Goalkeeper .
The winning team will receive a Trophy and each player will receive a winner ’ s medal .
The Presentation will feature the awarding of the first of two MoneyGram Football Scholarships to enable the recipients to travel to the Philippines to trial for the Philippines National team in their specific age group . The second MoneyGram Football Scholarship will be presented to a member of the Azkalroos Senior team following the Lunar Cup at Pro Evolution Indoor Centre , Blacktown to be held on October 8 and 9 .

Jonathan Parva and Myra Salkinder were the joint winners of the 13th Mickey ’ s Cup held at Rosnay Golf Course in Auburn on August 28 . Jonathan scored gross stroke of 82 and net 63 using his handicap of 19 to take the Men ’ s division . Myra scored gross stroke of 105 and net 69 using the maximum handicap of 36 for women to take the Women ’ s division . Both winners were awarded trophies and $ 150 cash each .
Joint runners up were Alvin Bernaldo for Men and Prescy Keogh for Women . Alvin scored gross stroke of 83 and net 66 using his handicap of 17 via count back . Prescy scored gross stroke of 82 and net 73 using her handicap of 9 . Both runners up were awarded with trophies and $ 100 cash each .
Nearest the pin winners on four ( 4 ) Par 3 ’ s
awarded with $ 20 each hole were Rhoel de Rosario ( Hole 6 & 10 ), Anthony Ramos ( Hole 9 ) and Deidre Horan ( Hole 16 ).
The event was followed by sumptuous lunch courtesy of Mickey Cabillo himself who opted not to play in order to have it ready when the golfers are finished . Drinks were courtesy of Jokers Social golf club , brought in by Ralph Posadas .
The Mickey ’ s cup , now on its 13th year ( although not consecutive ) was held to celebrate Mickey Cabillo ’ s 61st birthday on August 30 . It was coordinated by Sydney Jokers golf club headed by Ralph Posadas as the incumbent president . Ralph in his welcome remarks thanked all the participating golfers which included more women this time . He likewise led the singing of the birthday song for the celebrant .
The celebrant sincerely thanked all the golfers , appreciated their continued support and hoped they enjoyed the perfect weather . He also thanked Sydney Jokers for coordinating the tournament and founding President Albert Dionisio for donating $ 250 for the cash prizes .
Rey Garcia of Ropes Crossing and past president of Golf ParE Social club narrowly won the 2016 ParE ’ s Presidents cup with his score of net 69 using his handicap of 15 . He was awarded with the monumental trophy and $ 150 cash for his fantastic efforts . “ I ’ m so happy to win this annual major event ” said an ecstatic Rey .
The tournament was held on September 11 at Glenmore Heritage Valley Golf club to celebrate the birthday of Alex Cruz , incumbent President of ParE Social Golf club . There were 39 golfers who played and enjoyed the perfect weather with very mild wind .
Division winners and their scores were Louie Cuello ( 85-15 = 70 ) for A Division and Ed Montero ( 103-29 = 74 ) for B Division . Both division winners received trophies and $ 100
cash each .
Division runners up and their scores were Craig Gardner ( 89-13 = 76 ) for A Division and John Sabanal ( 95-21 = 74 ) for B Division . Again these division runners up received trophies and $ 70 cash each .
Novelty prizes of either nearest pins , drive & pitch and longest drives for all holes and for divisions A & B were awarded with $ 10 cash each .
The tournament was followed by BBQ lunch at the club house before the award presentation and while the scores were being tabulated .
At the program , ParE President , Alex Cruz thanked all the participants and duly acknowledged the cash contributions of some officers and members .
