Never enough love for mothers
FOR those of us in our twilight years , Mother ’ s Day starts with a tinge of sadness . Our mothers have long left us for a better place somewhere in Paradise , and we miss them .
In those brief moments when we wake up in the morning , we remember how mother ~ mum , nanay , mama ~ liked to cuddle and laugh and support us even when we were on the wrong side .
We should ’ ve spent more time with mama , shown her more love , told her more often how much we loved her . These thoughts fill those waking moments . Then , gradually our thoughts turn to the present : To our daughters , who are now mothers in their own right with our grandchildren . In our daughters we see the image of our own mother . Our daughters may never have the same smile as mother , but Heaven has given them their own special kind to melt our hearts just the same . Our day fills with gladness over Mother ’ s Day . Memories of good times with mama-nanay-mum blend in with the sight of our own daughters lighting up the day and bringing their little ones like presents wrapped in baby clothes .
Indeed , Mother ’ s Day becomes our own ‘ Christmas In May ’.
Let ’ s say it again : There ’ s never enough time spent in touch with one ’ s mother . •
