A showcase of cultures

MULTICULTURAL Showcase 2018 took place The Art House , NSW Central Coast ' s performing arts centre on Saturday , April 28 .

The event was a celebration of diversity and multiculturalism , showcasing the music and dances of people ’ s homeland and celebrating different cultures comprising those of Australian indigenous , Filipino , Indian , Chinese , South African , New Zealand and South American communities .
Central Coast ’ s Trinity Young sang two Filipino songs , ‘ Mamang Sorbetero ’ and ‘ Yesterday ’ s Dream ’.
The Australian Filipino Association of the Central Coast youth group danced the ‘ Tinikling ’.
The event was produced by former Wyong mayor Doug Eaton and his wife Ruby Eaton , and supported by the Filipino community . June Young was emcee , Marivic King stage director . Backstage crew comprised Orchy Macquarrie , Raquel
Sonter , Noni Magsalin and Betty Picôt .
Emy Ireland prepared the food for the performers and crew . •

Green slip refunds available now

Member for Riverstone Kevin Conolly is pleased to announce that nearly 30 % of eligible motor vehicle owners across the Riverstone electorate have claimed their CTP Green Slip refund .
The NSW Government last year overhauled the CTP Green Slip Scheme to create a more affordable , lower cost scheme . In addition to lower premiums in 2018 , the Government is providing partial refunds to the owners of vehicles across the state with insurance premiums calculated based on the cost of the old scheme .
“ The new CTP scheme is delivering significant savings for motorists so check to see if you are one of those who are eligible for a refund . As of last week , there ’ s still 29,622 owners in the Riverstone electorate yet to claim the money owed to them ,” said Mr Conolly .
Refunds are available to be claimed online at service . nsw . gov . au / greensliprefund during the evening from 7pm until 7am from Monday to Saturday and all day Sunday .
Eligible motor vehicle owners have until 30 September to claim their refund .
Minister for Finance , Services and Property Victor Dominello said that , as a result of the Government ’ s reforms , over $ 2.4 million will be returned to vehicle owners across the Riverstone electorate . •

Soldier home for dawn service

FILIPINO-Australian Vanessa Raz , of West Pennant Hills in Sydney ' s Hills District returned from her base in Kabul , Afghanistan , recently to take part in the Anzac Day dawn service in Kellyville and to visit her family . She attended the celebration of the Centenary of Anzac Reserve as part of the dawn service at Wright ' s Road , Kellyville . In picture is Cpl Raz wearing six service medals at the ceremonies . She is postal operator in charge of collecting mail at the flight line from aircraft C-130 Hercules and transporting it back to her office . Cpl Raz then sorts and delivers mail to different locations and appropriate receivers in Afghanistan . She also drives trucks on sustainment runs to deliver mail to the various locations . •
