The rally further marked the 32nd
anniversary of EDSA
It was also a demonstration of solidarity
between the Filipino community and allied
groups Action for Peace and Development in
the Philippines (APDP), according to Boyan
Mallary, media liaison of Migrante NSW and
MAT NSW.
Roselle Pineda, lead convenor of
MAT Australia, said: “To fight tyranny, to
frustrate Duterte’s ambitions to establish a
fascist-dictatorship in the Philippines is our
obligation, not just as Filipinos but as human
beings as well.”
Ms Pineda said that Duterte’s war
had also been designed to quell dissent
by sowing fear among those who defy his
policies. n
