Estera scored 73 strokes on the stick and
a net 59.5 from a 13.5 handicap to take the
winner’s trophy and $150 cash donated by
Renato Boy Alano.
“Am so happy that it was my lucky day
with all swing going into perfect rhythm,” he
said. “I almost eagled two holes.”
Grade winners with their gross/net
scores were Danny Martinez (75/66.4) for A,
Ted Badelles (86/60) for B, and Willy Salonga
(89/61.8) for C. They won trophies and golf
balls for their efforts.
Grade runners-up were Tim delos Reyes
(80/62.3) for A, Rommel Gaerlan (86/61.30)
for B, and Robert Iligan (95/66.8) for C. They
took home trophies and golf balls.

The 2018 Alano Memorial Golf
tournament was organised by Sydney Tee-
Riffic Berdies-Puro Golf Club headed by
president Toto Quintana.
“Am happy for the best turn-out of the
participants this year totalling 48 golfers,”
Quintana said.
Alano said: “Congratulations to all the
winners and thank you very much to all the
participants and all officers and members
who made this event a very successful one.”
The Alano Memorial Golf tournament is
held in memory of the father, mother and
two brothers of Renato “Boy” Alano who are
now deceased.
This is the first major tournament of
Sydney Tee-Riffic Berdies-Puro Golf Club for
2018.
THELMA CASTILLO MEMORIAL CUP
THE Thelma Castillo
Memorial Cup organised
by Philippine Australian
Sports and Culture PASC,
was won by Tony Ebonia
of Leumeah as over-all
champion.
Ebonia scored an unbeatable 48 points
off a 27 handicap with Pogi Golf under the
Stableford scoring system.
He took home a trophy plus $150 cash
prize.
Division winners were Eddie Tenorio
(45/18) for Division 1, Arnel Zaguirre (42/24)
for Division 2, and Prescila Keogh (39/4) for the
ladies.
All division winners (except the ladies
division) were awarded trophies plus $100
cash prize,.
Division runners-up were: Cris Bacucang
(44/18) for Division 1, Mickey Cabillo (40/20) for
Division 2 and Narelle Hellyer (36/17) for the
ladies division.
The winners were awarded trophies plus
$50 cash prize.
Novelty winners such as nearest-the-pin,
longest drives and best drive and pitch on
designated holes were awarded with trophies.
The winners were Jonathan Parva (longest
drive on holes 1 and 18); Priscela Keogh
(nearest the pin on hole 10 and drive-and-
pitch on hole 15); Fred Bacucang (drive and
pitch on hole 8) and Albert Hodge (nearest the
pin on hole 2).
The Thelma Castillo’ Memorial Cup is held
annually in honour of Thelma Castillo, the late
wife of Manny Castillo.
Thelma was a golfer herself and assisted in
the beauty pageants of the Grand Philippine
Fiesta Kultura.
The Castillo family sponsors this golf
tournament which is now on its seventh year.
