‘SIKAD TA BAI, DAI’ HOLDS
FILOZ DUATHLON RACE
Western Sydney’s PinOz Sikad Ta Bai (STB) duathlon
cycling group held its first anniversary and Christmas
bash last month at the Sydney International Regatta
Center, Penrith.
By: Marilie Bomediano
The group is composed
mainly of Visayan-speaking
male riders
“The Sikad Ta Bai (STBSydney Chapter), the founding duathlon cycling group
was formed two years ago, in
search of a less bodily intensive sports, less than basketball or football . STB has recently formed the women’s
cycling group last November
called Sikad Ta Dai consisting of the Sikad Ta Bai (STD)
wives,” member Cleo DianaMantua said.
“Wives started to feel
the lengthy absence of the
boys’ bonding during cycling
sports so we usually have so
called ‘chaperoned’ ride every
Wednesday 6:30 pm and Saturday 6 am. We ride together
and sweat together which gave
birth to Sikad Ta Dai.”
Their most recent event
last November was the 2015
MS Sydney to the Gong Ride
– Ride the 90 KM or 58 KM
course, a fundraiser advocacy to support Australians with
Multiple Scoliosis (MS) and a
FilOz and multicultural duathlon charity event recently held
at Wollongong.
Sikad Ta Dai (not neces-
sarily Visayan speaking but Visayan partnered) has just started
with around 15 members, guided by the founding Sikad Ta
Bai partners, which has over 30
members and still increasing.
“We would like to encourage men and more women and
especially couples to join us
on the M7 cycleway during
our weekly rides’ schedule.”
More details of the group
and scheduled activities is usually posted on our SIKAD TA
BAI Facebook Page. There
are no joining fees to join this
STB-STD cycling teams,
aimed towards promoting
health and family bonding
