The visiting Mayor of Taguig, Rizal, Lani Lopez-Cayetano,
a member of the Philippine delegation to the ASEAN Special
Summit in Sydney recently, was the forum’s keynote speaker.
Mayor Cayetano emphasised the importance of women
in the society.
She said that women’s leadership and resilience made
the world, the country, and the lives of many people in
dealing with the challenges of family, career and fulfilment
their dreams.
The Mayor shared her life experiences, challenges and
successes in establishing the Progressive Ladies League of
the Philippines to promote women’s rights and welfare.
The forum sessions included opportunities and
challenges for Filipino-Australian health professionals,
migrant women’s journey, women’s health and well-being
with a Filipina perspective, wealth through property investing,
and real-life case studies of women in social work. n
