Fil-Aussie debuts in Australian
Junior Women's Handball Squad
Twenty-year old Kylie Go from Queensland has
recently been selected for the Junior Women's
Handball Squad. She was a member of the squad
which competed in friendly matches against
the New Zealand team as part of Australia's
preparation for the International Handball
Federation Challenge Trophy scheduled in
December 2016.

KYLIE who is the first
Filipino-Australian
female handball player
has been on and off
playing handball since
she was 14. She used to
be a part of the Logan
Wizards and later
moved to the Northern
Panthers handball club.
She is right handed but
could play in both Left
Wing and Right Wing
positions.
In the two games that
she played with the squad
in New Zealand, Kylie
scored a goal from the left
wing in the first game,
and two goals from fast
break in the second game.
"My experience in
the competition was
incredible. It was fantastic
being able to see in
person, the level of skill
required to get to that
point of competition. It
was exciting to watch all
the games and really see
quality handball,” she
said.
“The thing I enjoyed
the most about my
performance in the
competition was being
able to do all the little
things right.
“These are the simple
things that my coach
drills into us every time
we have a training camp.
Things like catching the
ball, passing it well or
keeping the intensity of
the game high...being able
to do all those little things
steadily helps build my
confidence to do all the
big things, like making a
break in the defence and
going for shots.”
She said is she ready
to improve her game
admitting she still lacked
some skill in some areas.
“I still lack skill in
a range of areas, from
speed, accuracy and
overall understanding
of the game to my
movements in attack and
defence.
