A CERTAIN sheriff of Branch 19, Regional Trial Court, Dasmarinas, Cavite is now under scrutiny in the eyes of the majority of the publishers of Cavite Province. It has come to the publishers’ attention, that Sheriff Alvaro D. Mijares paid visits to some offices of some publishers. He reasoned he was doing it for “inspection” while he took photos without even asking for permission. Some visits were even done outside working office hours (around 6:30pm to 8:00pm) and on a weekend (Saturday). When one staff asked for a letter coming from the court, Mijares failed to comply but instead showed his ID. The visits appear to be invalid without any order from the Regional Trial Court and the I.D. of Sheriff Mijares, that he showed during his ïnspection. The Secretary further explained that patients may still continue to page 3 thus becomes questionable violating the privacy of the publishers and entering the premise without permission which comes out as trespassing. In addition, unconsented taking of photos constitutes unjust vexation. Prior to the said event, many publishers have already been complaining that Mijares had not been holding any raffle of extra judicial notices of sale for more or less than six months.
