POPCOM LEADS THE 2018 CAVITE
PARENTS SUMMIT
IN observance of the Population
and Development Week, the
Provincial Government of Cavite
thru the Provincial Population
Office in collaboration with
the Commission on Population
Region IV conducted the 2018
Cavite Parents Summit with
the theme “Informed Choice
on Family Planning Towards
Empowered Filipino Families”
which aims to ensure a well-
planned family and promote
the significance of responsible
parenthood.
A
total
number
of one hundred forty (140)
participants consisting of city/
municipal/barangay population
officers and workers, katropa-
move officers, parent leaders,
representatives from different
cities/municipalities and focal
persons from Local Government
Units were gathered at the
Ceremonial Hall in Trece
Martires City on November 13,
2018 with the desire to contribute
5th Cavite Greening Program
Another tree planting activity
was once again initiated by the
provincial government of Cavite
thru the Provincial Government-
Environment
and
Natural
Resources Office (PGENRO) led
by Ms. Anabelle Cayabyab held at
Mataas na Lupa in the municipality
of Indang on November 9, 2018.
The greening project was part of
the National Greening Program
and the follow up initiative of
the provincial government to
support the program on Disaster
Risk Reduction Management.
The project was a fruit of the
Memorandum of Agreement
inked between the provincial
government of Cavite, together
with Cavite State University and
DENR-PENRO which covered
the six major rivers of the province
including Labac-Alemang River
in 2016, Maragondon River in
2017, Cañas River in 2018, San
Juan River in 2019, Imus Ylang
Ylang River in 2020 and Bacoor
River in 2021. Present during the
tree planting activity were Prof.
Noel Sedigo, Dean of Cavite State
University (Trece Martires, General
Trias and Tanza); Dr. Reynado
Samonte, representative of Indang
Mayor Perfecto Fidel; Chairman
Camilo Lontoc; men in uniform
composed of the personnel from
the Bureau of Fire Protection and
Cavite Provincial Police Office;
representatives from the local
and national agencies and some
partners from private organizations
including Gemtech, Inc.
Six
hundred seedlings comprised of
irok, kawayan and fruit bearing
trees from PGENRO were planted
during the event.
for the dissemination of the
advocacy on stable population in
order to provide a healthier life
for the Filipino families in the
community.

warmly welcomed all the
participants and mentioned that
the provincial government has
been very dedicated in supporting
the activities of Popcom as
it will become a channel in
strengthening the link with other
support agencies.

The President joined
fellow APEC leaders for two
important meetings– the APEC
Business Advisory Council
(ABAC) and a dialogue with the
Pacific Island leaders.
“So, since yesterday,
our President joined the CEO
Summit and the ABAC Leaders’
Meeting with the APEC leaders
as well,” Trade Secretary Ramon
Lopez said in a press briefing
with the Philippine media on
Sunday, November 18.
“And ‘yung purpose
ng ating Pangulo in attending
international cooperation and
international
organization
meetings is really to push for
the inclusive globalization that
he is passionate about,” Sec.
Lopez added.
Lopez

that President Duterte has
always advocated for a kind of
globalization that is inclusive—
meaning bigger nations are

smaller nations to generate their
capability to manufacture and
