André PITRE - Portfolio | Page 6

André Pitre was born on Quebec’s Gaspé Peninsula in 1965. He moved to Montreal in 1984 to study architecture and art at university. After working as a professional architect, André decided to devote himself full-time to his painting for more than 20 years. Montreal continues to be his home and work base.
André’s art can be found in several prominent public and private collections in Canada and abroad. He has exhibited in some 15 solo shows in galleries in Quebec and Ontario.
In Évocations 2014–2017, the artist shares some of his spellbinding work with us.
The compilation shows two worlds living side by side, intersecting only occasionally.
It reveals places where the free, spontaneous movement mimics the ebb and flow of the tides—harkening back to the lands at the edge of a boundless infinity that enveloped the artist’s existence in his youth.
The human figures in his art carry with them the memories of long-hidden realms.
Each representation resonates with the observer and serves as an expression of the fragility of these ephemeral beings.
These reflections stir up emotions and stoke memories, beckoning the spirit to cross over to the magical world of these compelling personas and the landscapes they inhabit.
